Jon Krakauer
Krakauer sees himself in Chris because they both have many things in common. Krakauer was a real adventurous guy and so was Chris. We can see this when Chris wouldn't stay put in one place for more than 3 months and Krakauer climbed mountains. Krakauer's father pushed him through school and become basically perfect in all academics. In Chris's case he put minimal effort and became a high achiever. Krakauer's father wanted him to go to Havard Medical School to become a doctor, just like chris's father wanting him to go to law school. Krakauer was probably more prepared than Chris because Krakauer was looking for adventure not to move away from civilization. When he met Kai he felt some emptiness when he realized that he is going to miss civilization. That is something that Chris would never do. Krakauer did want to do the things that Chris wanted to do; however, Krakauer was more prepared and researched throughly before doing something. Both of them were careless at times but in Krakauer's case, climbing mountains can be dangerous because of unpredictable weather and other circumstances.
